Thanksgiving in Leavenworth, WA

Just after thanksgiving we rented a cool house and had a fun time checking out Leavenworth with family. The christmas lights were on, there was a kids christmas parade, and we soaked up some fake Bavaria. We also made trips to Stevens Pass for snow play and Lake Wenatchee.

I guess they'd already named all the streets before they went full Bavaria, so now they have both...

Puget Sound Mycologoical Society Mushroom Show

I think we have reached peak PNW. We went to a mushroom show, and it was surprisingly awesome. So much so that we went on a guided mushroom walk in Bridle Trails a few weeks later to learn more.

I thought these types of mushrooms you see in kids stories were made up. Turns out they are real and grow right here.

Bruno Weber Sculpture Park

Today thanks to the Atlas Obscura I had a great time wandering around the Bruno Weber Sculpture Park at Dietikon near Zurich. It's an amazing, and slightly creepy place. Like Gaudi meets Angkorwat: lots of strange concrete sculpture that is starting to age and is in a little bit of disrepair. If anything the slightly decrepit state gives it even more atmosphere.

Camano Island and Deception Pass

We stayed a couple of nights on Camano Island.

Kids had a great time building boats at Cama beach.

They had a bunch of activities for kids at Cama, including this amazing bubble mix and hoop that made enormous bubbles. We probably spent 2 hours just making bubbles....
